Publication Ethics

This is the statement of ethics fo Ittishal Educational Research Journal published by International Islamic School Alliance (ITTISHAL).

Ethical guidelines for authors

  1. Author(s) must ensure that only new and original work is submitted. 
  2. Author(s)  must not reproduce work that has been previously published in other journals.
  3. Author(s) must not submit any articles that are being reviewed or considered by the journal to other journals simultaneously.
  4. Author(s) are only allowed to publish their work elsewhere after receiving a formal rejection from the journal or if their request to withdraw their work is officially accepted by the journal.
  5. Author(s) must inform the Editor in Chief  or the publisher of any inaccuracy of data in their published work so that correction or retraction of article can be done.
  6. Author(s) should make significant contributions and be held accountable for any shortcoming in their work.

Plagiarism

Before going to review process, all manuscripts will be checked that they are free from plagiarism practice. If there an indication of plagiarism, the manuscript will instantly be rejected.

Ethical guidelines for reviewers

  1. Reviewers must disclose any competing interest before agreeing to review a submission.
  2. Reviewers can refuse to review any submission due to a conflict of interest or inadequate knowledge.
  3. Reviewers review all submissions objectively, fairly and professionally.
  4. Reviewers reveal any ethical misconduct encountered while reviewing to the Editor in Chief for further action.
  5. Reviewers ensure the originality of a submission and be alert to any plagiarism and redundant publication.
  6. Reviewers must not discuss the content of the submission without permission.
  7. Reviewers follow to the time allocated for the review process. Requests for extension to review the submission is at the discretion of the Editor in Chief.

 

Ethical guidelines for editors

  1. Editors should give unbiased consideration to each manuscript submitted for consideration for publication and should judge each on its merits, without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the author(s).
  2. Editors must keep the peer-review process confidential. They must not share information about a manuscript with anyone outside the peer-review process.
  3. Editors may reject a submitted manuscript without formal peer review if they consider it to be inappropriate for the journal and outside its scope.
  4. Editors must ensure that all manuscripts considered for review must be reviewed by suitably qualified reviewers.
  5. Editors must inform the researchers about steps taken to ensure that submission from editorial board members receives an objective and unbiased evaluation.
  6. Editors should make all reasonable effort to process submissions in time.
  7. Editors should not re-consider decisions to accept submissions unless serious problems are identified with the submission.
  8. Editors should publish author’s guidelines so that the researcher is well aware of the journal standards and the requirements.
  9. Editors’ decision to accept or reject the manuscript for publication should be based on the manuscript importance, originality and clarity, managerial implication & societal implication and its relevance to the standards of the journal.
  10. If the editor receives a credible allegation of misconduct by an author, reviewer, or editorial board member, then the matter should be investigated.
  11. Any data or analysis presented in a submitted manuscript should not be used in an editor’s own research without the consent of the author.
  12. Editors must provide new editorial board members with guidelines on their roles & responsibilities and should keep existing board members updated on new policies & developments.
  13. Editors must encourage reviewers to comment on the originality of the submissions and be alert of redundant publication & plagiarism.
  14. Editors should acknowledge the contribution of the reviewers in the journal.
  15. Editors must encourage academic institutions to recognize peer review activities as part of their scholarly process.
  16. Editors must monitor the performance of reviewers regularly.
  17. Editors must maintain a database of potential reviewers and add them to the Review Board on a continuous basis.
  18. Editors must remove reviewers from the Review Board who consistently produce discourteous, poor quality reviews or late reviews.
  19. Editors should actively seek the views of editorial board members, reviewers, readers & authors about the ways of improving the journal’s standards.
  20. Editors must take initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
  21. Editors must act if they suspect any misconduct or if an allegation of misconduct is brought to them. It extends to both published and unpublished papers.
  22. Editors must adopt systems to detect plagiarism in submitted manuscripts. 
  23. Editors should have systems for managing their own conflicts of interest as well as those of their staff, authors, reviewers and editorial board members.
  24. Editors should work to safeguard the integrity of the published record by reviewing and assessing reported or suspected misconduct (research, publication, reviewer & editorial) in conjunction with the publisher.
